 Welcome to Eye of Africa

Mark"A year ago, we had only two families living on the estate. Today, there are 30 families living in Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate! The growth has been amazing and to each of our new residents who have recently moved into this beautiful estate, I extend a warm welcome to you", says Mark McGovern, Project Director at Eye of Africa.

"We also have a further 30 homes currently under construction, which means that our Eye of Africa family will double by the middle of 2012. In addition, more than 50 building plans have been approved and construction should commence soon. So yes, we are steadily achieving our vision of ensuring that Eye of Africa is a world class golf and residential estate, boasting a vibrant community of residents who pride themselves in calling Eye of Africa their home."

"To those of you still considering purchasing at Eye of Africa, I invite you to make an appointment with our sales agents to view the estate and join the family”.

Phenomenal growth at Eye of Africa!

Sales during the past year at Eye of Africa have shown all the signs of positive growth, despite the decline ratio of 45.9% by banks on bond applications and the fact that residential property prices showed a moderate decline during September.

According to Shawn Mackrell from Seeff South, sole sales agents for the estate, they have recorded in excess of 50 sales during 2011. “There are many factors attributing to the positive growth. Building costs have become more competitive and people are now wanting to move from bigger homes in the suburbs to maybe a smaller home, in an estate that offers a better lifestyle with greater security,” says Mackrell.

R85 000 raised at charity Golf Day

The first Caxton South and Eye of Africa Charity Golf Day raised a fantastic amount of R85 000 in support of its beneficiary Die Mossie Primary School in Townsview, Johannesburg South in what can only be described as one of the most successful golf days this community has ever seen.

A festive and exciting atmosphere prevailed, with sponsor promotional activities at each of the holes, beautiful weather and the venue all set up for the prize giving function.

Liana Engelbrecht, principal of Die Mossie Primary school and her deputy, Carl Schofield, expressed their obvious delight at the substantial donation received. “We will invite all of you to the school to come and witness what we are going to do with this money,” Liana said. "A much needed Grade 1 R class and a kitchen are in the pipelines for future development at the school."Mark McGovern, project director for Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate, emphasised the importance of the estate being part of the local community and fulfilling its social responsibilities to these communities. ‘This Charity Golf Day is set to become an annual event, not only to showcase progress within this fast growing development but also to ensure we interact with our local community’.

Chris Halstead, branch manager of the Caxton South community papers, thanked all the golfers and sponsors for their generous contributions. “It was an honour and privilege to have worked with Eye of Africa on this fundraising event and it’s only through partnerships such as these that we too can be involved in local upliftment.”

Eye of Africa scores in the community

schoolbuilding

As part of their on-going commitment to improve the lives of neighbouring communities, Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate recently donated and installed new goal posts at the Jackson Informal Settlement in the Eikenhof area.

Says Mark McGovern: “Some of our workforce resides in this settlement and they keep me updated on the developments and needs in the Jackson community. When the request came through to support a sports ground with goal posts, we were able to quickly act on it. With the school holidays fast approaching, this will certainly provide some fun time for the local kids”

On the same day that the goal posts were installed, representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry visited the settlement and undertook to assist with water connections. Although the Jackson settlement is in existence for 25 years; it still has no proper water connection. So this was a real boost to the local community.

An eye for safety - A first aid kit is your safest move

firstaidWith the holiday season fast approaching, schools closing and everyone taking a much deserved break – make sure you also have your first aid kit in order to deal with those unexpected family medical emergencies at home or whilst on holiday.

At Eye of Africa, we pride ourselves on having a safe and healthy work and home environment, as safety is a priority to us. In this issue we highlight the importance of having a ‘small portable first aid kit’ in your car, home or office and share our list of essentials, as it could be a potential ‘life-saver’ in emergency situations.
