Architectural guidelines at Eye of Africa
Golf & Residential Estate |

One of the very first aspects to investigate and consider when purchasing property in an estate, would be the architectural guidelines as set out by the estate.
Created to enhance the unique character of Eye of Africa, the guidelines will help ensure that each house is designed and orientated to optimize the natural characteristics of its stand. The guidelines encompass aspects such as topography, views, orientation, access, privacy and location of services.
The purpose of these guidelines is to provide a consistent and coherent vision to housing and landscaping within Eye of Africa by establishing clear architectural standards for single dwelling houses and gardens.

| Eye on safety |
When you think of safety on a golf course you think of a person shouting 'fore!' after a wayward drive off the fairway, or the danger of being on the "13th hole" when lightning strikes.
These however, are not the only dangers looming for operators, golfers and even visitors to golf courses around the world. The Department of Labour (DoL) inspectors conduct regular safety inspections on golf courses, to ensure that they are in compliance with legislative policies and regulations, that safety programmes are implemented and that safety hazards are corrected to ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
For Eye of Africa, safety is a priority and it has appointed ABS Safety to ensure Occupational Health and Safety compliance of this prestigious development. They will soon introduce the 'Eye on Safety' initiative to the Eye of Africa personnel, homeowners, contractors, golfing members and visitors to ensure your experience at Eye of Africa is a safe and memorable one.
This initiative aims to provide regular communication of effective health and safety tips and support to all our stakeholders on all aspects of health and safety – from golf cart safety for golfers to scaffolding safety for the prospective homeowners and builders.
Keep an Eye out for our topic on 'Golf Carting Safety' in next month's

| Gravel road being tarred |

The commencement of work by Gautrans on the gravel road (D2529) currently connecting the D766 road from Eikenhof to Eye of Africa Golf
& Residential Estate, was met with great excitement from business and residents alike. With completion of this new tarred route, the access route to Eye of Africa from the Eikenhof corner, will be 3km shorter.
The new road will provide even easier access to the estate and provide upliftment to the Eikenhof area with route beautification, pavement treatment and street lighting. At this stage a confirmation date of completion could not be obtained from Gautrans, but interested parties are confident it will be before the end of this year.

| Caxton South/ Eye of Africa charity golf day |
Wednesday the 26th of October 2011 has been set aside, for the first Caxton South/Eye of Africa charity golf day. Combining forces with the Caxton South community papers in Alberton and Johannesburg South, Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate is set to host one of the biggest charity golf day this region has ever seen…and it's all for a good cause!
Both partners strongly believe in supporting the local community and what better way than to support the next generation of leaders than through education. With so many deserving organisations to choose from, the beneficiary of this charity golf day will be the Mossie Primary School in Forest Hill in Johannesburg South. Growing from 60 to 400 learners in a year, the school is in dire need of so many of the basics to help educate the children and to also feed many of the orphans the school takes care of.
To raise funds for this school, thirty 4-balls are available with an entry fee of R500 per player or R2000 per 4 ball team. The fee includes green fees, golf cart, halfway house, prize-giving dinner and give-aways. Bookings can be made by contacting Marietjie Tame on
082 337 5713.
Sponsorship of holes, are priced at R2000 and R3000 per hole. For your sponsorship, your business will receive a 5cm x 2col free advert in the Caxton papers (Alberton Record and Comaro Chronicle) for four weeks, plus your marketing material on the hole sponsored. Sponsorship of holes can be booked by also contacting Marietjie on 082 337 5713.
More information will follow in our next month's newsletter and in the Alberton Record and Comaro Chronicle's September issues.

| Walkerville Classic a success |

On the morning of the 17th of July, no less than 1400 mountain-bike riders cut through the southern part of the Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate, tackling the Perdeberg mountain as part of the route of the annual Walkerville Classic.
Starting and finishing at the Lapeng Hotel in Walkerville, this race has become the biggest up-country race of its kind, and is now organized by the North West University. The 60km route, of which 4km was through Eye of Africa, remains a test for South Africa's finest riders.
Speaking to Ken Davies from Hartzenbergfontein, who started this event 10 years ago and still helps in an advisory capacity in terms of the route and land access; 'all the riders enjoyed the scenic route this year'. Although 10 years ago the race started at the Castle Lodge, which was on the land that is now the Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate, the organizers had to re-route the race when the land was bought by the developers.
For the first time, the riders could again enjoy parts of Eye of Africa terrain and Ken expresses hope that this route will now remain taking the riders through the Eye of Africa Estate, which certainly will help to create awareness of the beauty and magnificence of the estate to an even wider market. |

| Thumbs up from the radio guys |
Kaya FM radio station representatives recently played the Eye of Africa championship golf course. Despite bitterly cold weather on the day, they managed to finish nine holes, enjoyed it immensely and undertook to come back in a week or two to finish the remaining nine holes; hopefully in much warmer conditions.
